The Royal Parks Half Marathon – 9th October 2022
In 2008 The Royal Parks Half Marathon was created by The Royal Parks charity. The aim of the charity is to preserve and support the beauty of London’s eight Royal Parks in the present and with a thought for the future in place. The marathon – which was the first of its kind – is a magnificent 13.1 mile route that navigates the runners through the capital’s world renowned landmarks through four of the eight Royal Parks - Hyde Park, The Green Park, St James’s Park and Kensington Gardens. The event was so well received that it won the award for Best New Event at the Runner’s World Awards.
The award-winning race was initially set up to act as an annual fundraising initiative to aid in raising sustainable funds for the Royal Parks to support London’s eight Royal Parks and enabling charities of all sizes to be involved in a major challenge event.
Over the last twelve years the event has exceeded all expectation in raising £55 million for over 1,000 UK charities, including the Royal Parks, GOSH, and Mind.
We need people to understand that London's beautiful Royal Parks need their support. The money raised by the Royal Parks through this event helps to keep the magic of the Royal Parks alive through restoring monuments and playgrounds, teaching children about the natural world and caring for wildlife.
The Royal Parks Half Marathon in London takes place on Sunday 9th October and is free to attend for spectators.
